of the United States have become Indentured to a government that is dominated by Career Politicians. These politicians will spend the taxpayers money to 'Bring Home the Bacon' as a way to buy votes and get re-elected. This cycle of re-election has no limit and has bred an Imperial Congress which can think of itself before its subjects. The high re-election rate of a Congress with a low approval rating reveals the power of incumbency of the Career Politician who must feel free to please his donors and lobbyists with his vote. Our current government design is flawed because it allows a corrupt leader or a Career Politician to rule our nation. Our country requires leaders who are typical of the communities that they serve and who will shortly return to live under the laws that he or she has passed. Our Career Politicians are far removed from being citizen legislators and they have shown us that they cannot be trusted to rule benevolently because they have indebted our children and they have violated our Constitution. In an effort to restore a representative government and negate the Career Politician, I am promoting an Amendment to the United States Constitution that sets a one term per lifetime limit for all United States Senators and Representatives.
Our founding fathers were wise but they likely did not conceive of the Career Politician who would vote his way to wealth and power with the taxpayers money. Join with me and help to influence our State Legislators to call for an Article Five Amendment Convention for such an amendment. A complete replacement of the House and Senate after every term would allow many new people to serve (like State Representatives) and it would diminish lobbying and eliminate the need to buy votes.
I have made an illustration titled 'The Ever Expanding Tin Cup' which represents the time in office of currently serving Congressmen and Supreme Court Justices. I hope that it generates interest and gets people motivated to lobby their State Houses to call for an Article Five Amendment Convention to make this needed change to our government. Congress could do it themselves but that would be like convincing a snake to bite itself.
I can be contacted at Amendmentwatch@yahoo.com if someone would like to comment.
